Top 5 Beer Capitals of Europe

With such a varied amount of cultures, languages and influences- Europe is a fascinatingly diverse place to visit. Whether you're traveling with the family, or going with the guys/girls for your Stag/Hen do, Birthday or celebration- something that will draw in the dads to the dudes... Europeans have an immense love for beer!!
Whilst almost every European country has it's own national beer, here is a list of what WE consider the top 5...

1. Bruges
Yes, we all know that Belgium is famous for it's mouth-wateringly divine chocolate. BUT for all you that have a taste for something a little more refreshing, you need to try it's Beer.
Belgium produce more than 350 types of beers. This region of Belgium is responsible for the lambic beer – a beer produced by spontaneous fermentation, often with the addition of various fruits.
Start your beer tasting journey with a visit to Brugs Beertje (Little Bear) bar, where you can taste and enjoy literally hundreds of Brews of Bruges' Beer (try saying that outloud and ten times faster!)
And then move on to try breweries such as De Halve Maan (makers of Bruges Zot) and the De Gouden Boom Brewery.

2. Prague

with 156 liters per capita per year, it's safe to say that Czechs are the most avid of all European drinkers- thus making Czech famous for it's beer! The biggest players in the local beer industry are Pilsner Urquell, Gambrinus, Budvar and Bernard. Klášterní pivovar Strahov (Strahov Monastery Brewery) is an excellent place to explore the Czech’s beer history, with a tradition dating back to the 17th century.
Novoměstský pivovar (The New Town Brewery) has some great food and delicious beers that will leave you burping of joy. Don’t miss the stronger, dark beers, with as much as 12% alcohol.

3. Amsterdam
The Netherlands is home to the famous Heineken and you’ll see this brand proudly displayed all over Europe! The Dutch offer an exciting range of bars and brewery's if you want to uncover the fascinating history of Dutch beer. When the clock strikes Beer O'clock, start with a visit to a superb little bar offering a selection of around 200 beers- Wildeman. And for your other Beer stops try Beiaard, offering over 60 refreshing and tasty beers- and Arendsnet, for a more unique taste.

4. Munich
Oktoberfest! Munich is full of exciting all year round attractions for all you beer lovers. An experience you should not miss is the beautiful beer gardens – small islands of relaxation in the urban jungle, where you can enjoy traditional Bavarian golden drinks. Head on down to the Beer Garden Augustiner Keller, Munich’s oldest, the Aumeister or the Hischgarten. Visit the big breweries such as Löwenbräu, Augustinerbräu or Hofbräuhaus for a firsthand experience of authentic German lager.
5. Copenhagen
What springs to mind when you hear the words København or Denmark? Tuborg or Carslberg! But if you’re looking for something more than what you know from home, know that this is the country with the most micro-breweries per capita in Europe since 2005.
The recently opened ‘Jacobsen’, a new brew house in Varby that aims to showcase beer culture and produce a rare variety of beers. Or if you want to sample special brews, head down to the Vesterbro Bryghus, Nørrebro Bryghus or Brewpub.

Weirdest Hangover Cures...

How to cure the hangover from hell. We've heard of some crazy tips for hangover cures...but these really shocked us. Share with us your hangover cure, however wild and wacky- if it works then we want to know! Prepare yourself for some weird and wonderful morning after ideas...

Germany- The Germans like to pickle things. They SWEAR by a breakfast they call ''katerfruhstuck'', which is supposedly the ultimate hangover cure. It's a pickled herring wrapped around pickled cucumber and onions.

Japan- The Japanese, with their strong tastebuds- eat dried sour plums called ''umeboshi''.

Poland- The Polish swear by drinking a glass of brine from a jar of sour pickles. Mmm.

UK- Us Brits swear by a hearty, good ol' Bacon Sarnie. With brown sauce and butter. Cured.

BUT the winner, with the strongest stomachs of all, are the Mongolians. They swallow pickled sheep eyeballs mixed with tomato juice.
We're not entirely sure how accurate these remedies work...so here's some scientific advice for you!!

Super smooth and well organised hen do in oxford. Lovely accommodation for a fair price. Easy transfer to the activity (quad biking) and nice choice for dinner and clubs.all reasobable price and quick entries. Good timing to leave dinner for bar and then club. All within walking distance. Thanks for organising. Loved the interlinking rooms for all the girls to get ready together. Perfect to have breakfast on the room ready for the next morning so no need to get up just make you own tea and cereal. Easy to get through the day with clear schedule which also allowed for some flexibility. Nice to have things paid for already such as hitel and activities. Hotel within walking distance and parking for free one street away was very useful. ***** Star.

Hen Do's and Don'ts!

Rule #1 – Shhh...Mum’s The Word

First and foremost you (as the party planner) need to decide whether the Hen’s mother is going to be invited...and more importantly, whether his mother is going to be invited. While its guaranteed they will have seen it all before, you need to consider which parts of the event you’d like the mum’s to join you for, if any! It’s usually best to invite them to the day time activity and give them the chance to opt out of the evening madness. Unless of course you’d like your mum to enjoy the strippers with you! Don’t worry about offending them, by doing it this way they will feel included and usually get the hint at the end of the day.

Rule #2- Ask The Boss!

Whether it’s a surprise event or the Bride-to-be is organizing it herself, its crucial not to bring anything to the day that wouldn't sit perfectly with the Hen. Remember it’s HER day and she wants to feel like she has an option to have as much/little input as she’d wish. So get a list of her nearest and dearest girlfriends and plan a day that she’ll love but never forget!

Rule #3 – Set The Date!

Planning a Hen Do can be almost as rigorously exhausting and stressful as planning the wedding itself.. So get in there early and be as organised as humanly possible! That means lists, post-it-notes, invitations, itineraries and lots of phone calls! All of which is best helped by setting a date as early as possible!
Rule #4 – It’s not a competition!
If the Stags are planning a weekend in Vegas..That doesn't mean yours can’t be just as fun! Make it personal and exciting, don’t compete with the Stags..You’ll all end up in the same position in the morning anyway!

Rule #5 – Spice it up!

The use of forfeits and rules can be deadly but wonderful! You’ll make memories that will never be forgotten, and some never repeated..
Here are some examples of possible rules and forfeits;
-          Banning the use of certain words.. ‘yes and no’ are interesting choices, you’d be surprised at how many people ‘forget’ the words are banned and are therefore made to drink!
-          Kiss someone old, someone new, someone borrowed and someone blue. This date requires not just nerve but creativity!

Rule #6 – The Hen is still the Bride!

Under no circumstances should things get out of hand enough for the Bride-to-be to do something that will screw up the big day.. My all means have flirty fun with the stripper but as fellow Hens it’s your responsibility not to let it go too far! And if his mother-in-law IS with you... make sure she has nothing but harmless innocence to report back to camp in the morning!

Rule #7 – One hand one drink!

At all times the bride should have a drink in her hand, whether it’s a glass of Pinot or a shot of tequila! There’s no exceptions to this rule..DRINK!

Rule #8 – HAVE FUN! Make a night to remember.

Hen Don'ts!

Stag Do's and Don't

Stag Do’s and Don’ts!
Stag and Hen nights are considered a ‘rite of passage that no one should have to endure’ – aside from the inevitable, you want to avoid the night becoming expensive, monogamous and even painful! So here are some tips for making a night that nobody will forget but everybody will enjoy; whether you’re organising your own, or planning a surprise for a bride or groom to be- these tips will apply all round!

Rule Number 1 – Men On Tour! : What Ever Happens on the Road STAYS on the Road!

This rule, though unwritten and unspoken, is the most important rule of all. Whatever the reason, whether something mysteriously unbelievable happens, or something that nobody wants to ever mention again... or it may be the case that nobody remembers (or wants to remember) it is kept quiet for the rest of time!

Rule Number 2 – Never Leave A Man Behind!

Those attending the stag do form and unspoken pact to unite and stick together. You must never leave the inevitable one man that passes out in the bathroom floor of the club only to be woken up by the doorman and left to make his own way home (usually with little recollection of where he is going)

This rule also applies if a girl is involved! As part of a stag pact- a man should never end up waking alone in the living room of a girl’s house, he must always be accompanied!

Rule Number 3 – Man Up And Take The Bullet!

If you are nominated, no matter what you have done, you MUST see the punishment through! If you don’t... it is more than likely that the punishment will worsen, nobody wants to be made to have an ‘alcoholic drink before breakfast’ so take the bullet like a   man!

Rule Number 4 – The Stag Is Also The Groom!

By all means take advantage of the most powerful weapon of all – EMBARRASSMENT! It is a rite of passage for there to be some kind of prank, but make sure that the stag remains in one piece (or pieces fixable before the big day). No tattoos, major spontaneous credit card expenses, no Vegas weddings!! Keep him dignified- he may be a stag- but remember he is still the groom-to-be.

Rule Number 5 - One Hand, One Drink

AT ALL TIMES- The stag must have a drink in his hand. If not, a forfeit must be put in place, or a dare or prank. But under NO circumstances must the stag remain drink free!

Rule Number 6 – ‘The Hangover’ Is Just A Film!

Nobody – especially the bride-to-be – wants to see videos on Facebook of the stag peeing in public, dancing shirtless on a table, sleeping in a bath, or throwing up! There are some parts of the night that are best left un evidenced
Filming of the daytime activities is allowed, except if the daytime activities include drinking or strippers.

Rule Number 7 - Target Audience

For the day time activity, ensure the venue and event is enjoyable for all- so if you’ve invited the grooms (or worse, the brides) elderly father, it’s probably best not to arrange a paintballing or rock climbing day!

Rule Number 8 – HAVE FUN. Make a night to remember.
